Code of Conduct
1. PREAMBLE
All members of the Milnerton Junior Cricket Club are expected to conform to the Code Of Conduct set out below:
2.GENERAL:
Participants in matches:
- · Shall not do or say anything that will harm or discredit their club or families,
- Shall not do or say anything that will harm, discredit or make them ashamed of themselves,
- Shall not consume alcohol, smoke or use drugs,
- Shall not do or say anything that will bring Western Province Youth Cricket into disrepute.
ATTENDANCE AT PRACTICES:
- All team members are expected to attend scheduled practice sessions, arriving punctually. Failure to attend practices may jeopardize the player’s selection for matches.
- Players unable to attend practice sessions must provide valid reasons for non-attendance and must notify his/her coach timeously.
- Players may not leave the practice area without the permission of the Coach or Manager. Should a player have valid reasons to leave a practice early, the Coach or Manager must be notified timeously.
- Cell phones may only be used in exceptional circumstances.
- Discipline and good behaviour are expected at all times.
ON THE FIELD:
“On the field” refers to all infringements that may occur within the context of a game. This includes behaviour at the side of the field as well as on the actual field of play.
Players, Managers, Coaches, Officials and Parents:
- Shall acknowledge that the umpires are in sole control of a cricket match once a game has begun,
- Shall not abuse an umpire, or dispute a decision, or react in an obviously provocative or disapproving manner, either towards an umpire, his/her decision or generally,
- Shall not remonstrate by verbal abuse or by showing equipment or clothing or by abusing equipment, when dissatisfied with any situation within the game,
- Shall not indulge in intimidation that goes beyond the laws and spirit of the game,
- Shall not use crude and/or abusive language, especially comments which can be construed to be of a racial nature,
- Shall at all times abide by the playing conditions, rules and regulations organized under the auspices of Western Province Youth Cricket.
BREACHES OF THE CODE OF CODUCT:
Any breach of the Code of Conduct shall be reported to the Junior Club Management and any player deemed to be in breach of the code of conduct shall be summoned to appear before the Disciplinary Committee.
DISCIPLINARY HEARINGS:
- Hearings shall be convened by the Disciplinary Committee.
- The Disciplinary Committee shall consist of the Junior Club Captain and the Junior Chairman.
- Hearings shall take place at the earliest possible convenience.
- The accused shall be entitled to be represented by his / her parent.
PENALTIES:
Players found guilty of a breach of the Code of Conduct may be:
- Reprimanded,
- Required to make / write an apology,
- Required to pay a fine,
- Suspended for one or more matches,
- Expelled from the Club.
